Bizzell Health XcelHERate Bootcamp

The Ask

As we strive to empower women entrepreneurs in the health sector, we seek assistance in refining our bootcamp curriculum to ensure participants gain the necessary skills and confidence to develop their Minimum Viable Products (MVPs). We would like to explore best practices in Human-Centered Design (HCD) and effective strategies for achieving product-market fit. Can you provide insights and resources to enhance our program's effectiveness and relevance to our target audience?

The Observation

Women entrepreneurs in the health sector face challenges like limited resources and support networks. Many are unfamiliar with Human-Centered Design, affecting product alignment with user needs. Developing an MVP and achieving product-market fit is often difficult without tailored guidance, making programs like XcelHERate crucial for providing support and hands-on experience.

The Process

Workshop Content Preparation

We developed and organized comprehensive materials for the bootcamp.

Workshop Execution (4 Parts):

  • Intro to Human-Centered Design (HCD): It covered empathy, user-centered design, and techniques like empathy mapping, user journey mapping, and persona creation.
  • MVP Development: Here we focused on defining, building, and testing MVPs using lean startup methods and rapid prototyping.
  • Product-Market Fit: We guided participants on identifying target markets, gathering feedback, validating demand, and iterating products.

Hands-on Activities & Case Studies: Included exercises, case studies, and group discussions to tackle real-world challenge.

Outcomes

The collaborative efforts of Bizzell Health and MADE by People resulted in impactful outcomes for the participants:

  1. Practical Application: Participants received hands-on guidance in applying the concepts to their specific projects, enhancing their practical skills.
  2. Resource Availability: Participants were provided with notes, templates, and access to experts for consultation, ensuring ongoing support as they implement their learnings.
