The Ask
Fuzu Ltd sought assistance from Made By People to conduct design research and revamp their platform to cater specifically to the needs of blue-collar workers.
The Observation
Fuzu recognized that their platform was not fully aligned with the unique needs and behaviors of blue-collar job seekers. They wanted to better understand this segment and create a more inclusive platform that would resonate with both job seekers and employers in the blue-collar space. The Process
- Desktop Research
Made By People conducted thorough research to explore how the term “blue-collar workers” is understood across various contexts and environments, as well as its intersection with “base of the pyramid” employment. - Recruitment
Potential job seekers and employers were recruited from job categories that fit the blue-collar definition. These individuals would represent the target users of the redesigned platform. - Field Research
Interviews were conducted with both job seekers and employers to gain deeper insights into their expectations, challenges, and preferences when using job-seeking platforms like Fuzu. - Usability Testing
Usability testing of the current Fuzu platform was conducted to evaluate how effectively blue-collar workers could navigate and use the platform. This testing revealed areas for improvement in terms of user experience. - Synthesis and Persona Development
Insights from the research were synthesized to develop key personas representing the various blue-collar job seekers and employers. These personas would inform the design process moving forward. - Reporting
A comprehensive report was produced, detailing the insights gained from the research, the personas created, and design recommendations for enhancing the platform for blue-collar workers. - Prototyping
A mid-fidelity prototype of the redesigned Fuzu platform was developed, showcasing how the platform could better serve blue-collar workers and improve overall user experience.
